Heather Harper, LCSW Clinical Director & Owner
Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) Hi, I'm Heather!
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and the practice. I believe that every individual—regardless of their circumstances—has inherent strengths, resilience, and the capacity for growth. Each person’s story is unique, which is why I take an individualized, clinically grounded approach tailored to your specific needs and goals.
My work integrates evidence-based modalities including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, somatic and body-based practices, play therapy, and sand tray. These approaches allow us to address challenges at both cognitive and nervous system levels, supporting healing that is not only insightful, but deeply embodied. Above all, our work is rooted in safety, connection, and trust. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you feel genuinely supported and understood. I believe meaningful healing occurs within a compassionate therapeutic relationship—one that honors both vulnerability and strength. In our work together, you can expect thoughtful guidance, practical tools, and space for reflection as we deepen your connection to your emotions, your body, and your inner wisdom. My role is to walk alongside you as we move toward lasting change and personal growth. Throughout my career, I have worked across diverse settings, including schools, inpatient and outpatient facilities, home-based care, emergency services, respite programs, and community mental health. My clinical experience includes family systems and conflict resolution, school-related concerns, special education advocacy, behavioral management, parenting support, trauma, substance use, and couples therapy. I value collaboration and regularly coordinate with families, educators, and community providers to support meaningful and sustainable outcomes. In addition to direct clinical work, I provide supervision for clinicians pursuing Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensure in Virginia. I am passionate about mentoring developing clinicians and supporting their professional growth. My supervision approach is collaborative, reflective, and developmentally informed—designed to strengthen clinical competence while fostering confidence and professional identity. I look forward to the opportunity to support you in your journey.
